Anantnag, July 25: As many as six persons, including a cop, suffered injuries during clashes that broke out between stone throwers and law enforcing agencies here today. Defying curfew, people, mostly youngsters, started marching towards Anantnag from Bijbehara and Anchidora areas of the town. They clashed with forces at Bijbehara near Goriwan Chowk after they were stopped to proceed towards the Anantnag chowk. Protesters were also stopped on KP Road near Anchidora from marching towards the Anantnag town. Eyewitness said that forces used tear smoke shells and pellet guns to quell the protesters. At Bijbehara, four persons, including a cop, sustained injuries. Medical Superintendent of Sub-district Hospital, Bijbehara, identified the injured as Mubashir Ahmad of Waghama, Wazira Banoo of Liddermud, Mimoona Akther of Panzgam and cop Tanveer Ahmad. Mubashir, who had sustained pellet injuries, was later shifted to SMHS hospital. In Anantnag district hospital, two civilians with pellet injuries were admitted. Their identity couldn't be ascertained. Reports of clashes between youth and security forces at Achabal were also received. |
