Early Times Report

Jammu, July 25: The crime branch (CB) of state police has registered a case against an alleged Pak resident for unlawfully getting a PRC (permanent resident certificate) issued in his name.
The CB had registered a case on the basis of a complaint of one Renu Bala, wife of Brij Mohan of Azad Colony, Lower Roop Nagar, duly endorsed by the munsiff, Jammu.
In her complaint, she alleged that one Ashok Kumar, son of Sant Ram of Udeywala (at present Shiv Nagar), being a resident of Pakistan, was not entitled to obtain PRC, but, he in connivance with some revenue officials, had procured a reserved category certificate in terms of SRO 294 by forging the records and documents vide file No 946/SC/BCE dated September 4, 2010.
It was also alleged that his name was shown in the voter list of 1984 as Ashok Kumar, son of Sant Ram, but in the caste certificate, it was shown as Ashok Kumar, son of Anant Ram. She also alleged that Ram Lal, son of Anant Ram, Kamal Kishore, son of Ram Lal and Brij Mohan, son of Ram Lal had also applied for the issuance of SC category certificate by projecting and referring Ashok Kumar to be the real brother of Ram Lal and uncle of Brij Mohan and Kamal Kishore whereas, he was neither their real brother nor uncle of the accused.
However, all of them obtained the SC certificates in their favour on the basis of fake and forged documents in connivance with the revenue officials, she alleged.
CB sources said during investigation, it was found that Ashok Kumar, Ram Lal, Kamal Kishore and Brij Mohan got the PRC certificates issued in their favour by using the revenue documents of one Pishori Lal, son of Anant Ram, who was not even remotely connected with them.
The accused in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy obtained PRCs and other related documents, including ration card and voters' list pertaining to Pishori Lal and used them fraudulently to procure PRCs in their favour with the help of some revenue officials, sources alleged.
It was revealed that Ashok Kumar was son of Sant Ram who had migrated from Pakistan and lived in Batala, Punjab. In 1979-80, he came to Jammu and married one Sudesh Kumari and started living with his in-laws. Voter card and ration card used for procuring the PRC belonged to the real fore-fathers of Sudesh.
Similarly, SC category certificates were also procured by the accused persons on the basis of fake documents as the accused fraudulently prepared fake and manipulated records in convenience with the revenue officials in order to secure undue benefits for themselves and their family members, sources alleged.
On the basis of its findings, CB booked Ashok Kumar, Brij Mohan, son of Ram Lal, Kamal Kishore, son of Ram Lal, and Ram Lal, son of Anant Ram, all residents of Main Chowk, Shakti Nagar, under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of RPC. (JNF)
