Jammu, July 26: People of Butta Nagar, Poloura today staged massive protest outside Divisional Commissioner office, Jammu against Jammu and Kashmir Government and Jammu Development Authority (JDA) for forcibly encroaching private land in violation of court's order.
Hundreds of people including women and children raised slogans against the PDP-BJP government and JDA for hatching criminal conspiracy to forcibly encroach land fallen under Khasra number 512 in Buta Nagar, Paloura Jammu.
They claimed that said piece of land is registered as 'malkiat' with all duly certified revenue records including girdawari and JDA itself give No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the locals to raise construction but unfortunately most of the owners are illiterate and poor so it's quite impossible for them to raise construction, taking this as advantage JDA on behest of some politicians hired some goons threatened the legal owners and tried to capture the said land, due to its proximity with newly establish colonies
They said that court grant stay on the land but SHO Janipur sides with goons and refused to implement the stay order and even threaten and lathicharge the locals owners.
"On June 13 this year JDA tried to encroach our land with muscular power and using police and other para military forces, without any valid documents to support its ownership, we resisted the move but after few days JDA people came with professional goons who openly carry arms and guns, they threatened us and started construction on war footing," said Brham Raj a protesters.
"We are poor people, mostly labour class, but know that it's our land and earlier JDA tried to grab it and we take them to court, by all our means we still fighting this suit in court but contradictory JDA fail to support its argument in the court and now forcibly tried to grab the land by sending goons and using muscle power," he added.
He added when we approach the SHO Janipur to intervene and stop the construction as the said land is sub judice, the SHO refused to help and even abused and beat our people.
"The SHO Janipur abused our ladies and locked all the men in the homes so we cannot move anywhere and not try to disturb their construction work. He even sent huge protection for goons," he narrates. He further said that after lot of struggle, we manage three new stay orders but SHO refused to implement and on Friday July 22 when court asked SHO to give reason for not implementing the stay order and signed the order, it was implemented and construction was stopped in tFriday evening but due to Saturday-Sunday holiday in the court and involvement of SHO Janipur the construction again started on Saturday at disputed site. They said that locals also met DC Jammu, concerned SDM, who assured help but failed to nab the goons, who enjoy full support of local SHO.
The locals said that on July 25, we again manage another stay and when team of court came to construction site all the goons flee always and when asked about who is constructing at site, they referred to JDA while JDA people not owns construction and encroachment and refused to signed stay order, which hint a great conspiracy of land grabbing.
He further added on the goons openly brandish swords and guns and threatens our children; we are leaving in fear psycho and not sleeping at our homes.
