Early Times Report JAMMU, July 26: After Army, J&K police headquarters (PHQ) too has issued a social media advisory to its personnel and strictly asked them to refrain from making any comment on the internal matters of police department and its functioning. A PHQ order in this regard, that makes a specific mention of two CID officers making unwelcome comments on social networking sites and of some other police officers making comments on Qousar Nag pilgrimage, has been circulated to all the senior officers, including ADGPs and SSPs, according to police sources. The order said any police officer, who was found violating the PHQ directive in this regard, would be dealt with sternly under law, sources said. The need to this effect was felt by PHQ following increased incidents of police officers using Facebook and other social networking sites for making 'objectionable' comments, the sources added. "The order says it is wrong to discuss internal matters of police on the networking sites," sources said, adding that PHQ was keeping a close eye on the social networking profiles of its officers. "The move is to ensure that no vital information is leaked via social networking sites, which can be used against the nation," sources said. Army too had some time back issued an advisory to its officers not to leak secret information on social networking sites. |
