When shall Pak Army stop aiding ingress of militants?
7/27/2016 11:54:20 PM
When shall Pakistani agencies, espe
cially the Army abandon or suspend
their plan of assisting militants in crossing into the Kashmir valley? This question has seemingly upset the Government of India and the coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir. Even the Army that is deployed on the LOC does not know when the assistance to infiltrators is stopped by the Pakistan Army. Yes, during the last seven months troops, guarding the LOC and the BSF deployed on the IB in Jammu and Kashmir have been asked to be on the alert to prevent militants from sneaking into the India statge. Despite upgraded border management and round the clock patrolling by troops militants, backed by the Pak Army, manage to sneak into Kashmir. In fact the Pakistan Army is under pressure and want to raise the level of violence with in the valley of Kashmir and for that to mature added man power is needed. Added weapons and ammunition are required. Despite Indian troops being on high alert Pakistani troops, at times, resort to ceasefire violations to allow militants to cross into Kashmir under the cover of fire. Despite the fact that scores of infiltrators have been killed while cross ding the LOC in Kupwara sector during the last seven months attempts are afoot to raise the level of ingress.
Reports say that four suspected Pakistani militants were killed and another was apprehended in a gunfight close to Line of Control in north Kashmir's Kuwpara district. The gunfight erupted around Monday midnight when Army detected a group of militants close to the LoC in Nowgam sector, 120 km northwest of Srinagar."As the group was challenged, they opened fire triggering a gun fight. Four Pakistani militants were killed and another was apprehended in the fight The arrested Pakistani militant was identified as Bahador Ali, sources said.
The affiliation of the slain militants could not be ascertained immediately. The operation is still underway.
There has been a spurt in infiltration this year. According to government figures, 54 militants had infiltrated till June. As many as 35 militants had infiltrated last year. Army chief General Dalbir Singh who had visited Kashmir last week had asked soldiers to be on alert as Pakistan might push more militants due to the current situation in the Valley.
Notwithstanding the fact that the Indian troops have tried to make difficult for infiltrators to sneak into Kashmir they do cross in twos and threes for derailing peace in Kashmir. And continued aid to ingress has been one of the factors responsible for New Delhi to oppose reopening of channels of dialogue with Islamabad. Yes, militant groups like Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-i-Toiba have managed to enroll Kashmiri boys in the outfits. However, this does not mean that their number is so big that they can measure muscles with the security forces.
And if the local youth is getting ready to measure sword with the security forces they need weapons, ammunition and explosives and it is for this very purpose Pakistani agencies, including the Army, are trying to help militants, trained in camps in Pakistan, to cross into Kashmir. Reports say that infiltrators from across the LOC and who have received arms training in camps in Pakistan are better fighters than the Kashmiri youth. Normally Kashmiri boys are trained in pelting stones and get killed or injured in clashes with the security forces. This is what has been happening during the last 19 days. And once ingress of militants touches zero level the situation in Kashmir may improve.
