Early Times Report JAMMU, July 27: Taking special initiative to provide healthcare services to meet the immediate health care needs of the marginalized community in remote rural areas, KMS organized a free medical camp in Patnitop. As many as 187 patients were examined in the general health check up and were given advice by some expert doctors. Members of the KMS said that even after decades of freedom, India is struggling to provide basic health services to its people. According to government sources, in India 45 children die every hour due to respiratory infections, 1 child dies every 2 minutes due to diarrhea and annually, about 2 million children under 5 years of age die due to preventable diseases. Meanwhile, a session on personal health and hygiene was also conducted by KMS representatives. The event was brought to a close with a promise taken from the community workers to keep the surroundings clean and if possible may be fumigate it especially in this rainy season. |
