CM's statement on Burhan Wani ruffles alliance feathers yet again…
BJP's vote bank angry, big question mark over ministers' silence

Early Times Report
Jammu, July 29: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's statement on Burhan Wani has once again stirred hornet's nest in the PDP-BJP alliance, with BJP on receiving end of what she uttered and what implications it has politically for the latter. The message that has gone is disastrous for the BJP and the impression it has created in the vote bank is just incurable and irredeemable, unless the leadership plunges in with an assertion that BJP's consent is not in saying that Burhan would have been given another chance.
Sources within the party said that as the leadership is constantly busy in damage control exercises over a host of issues and political developments as a heavy cost which BJP is accruing in allying with PDP, this statement amid instability and uncertainty may well fetch some gains to PDP in Valley, BJP's image is once again battered and damaged to the extent of annoying even the vote bank in Jammu, nationalist forces and a huge embarrassment for the leadership both at the state and central level. Moreover, it has demoralized the security forces who have been facing violent brunt of protests for over 15 days now.
Sources further the humiliation and embarrassment for the party leadership is for the fact that on one hand the Central government and the high command adopted strong stance over turmoil in Kashmir Valley while accusing Pakistan for flareup and by expressing reservations over utterings of Pak PM, the statement from none other than the Chief Minister of J&K state has antagonised that posture and position. Even though Mehbooba Mufti might not have meant any damage to ally BJP or done it with such intent, but the undertone of the lines and expression has obliterated that stance and diluted what message Centre wished to convey to both separatists and Pakistan, BJP sources said as being the concern of the leadership over fresh development.
Sources further said that Chief Minister Mehbooba's concern over continuance of trouble in Valley is well understood and cannot be undermined, but at the same time she being the one holding a constitutional post and head of the government, the message has gone too far that BJP being the alliance partner has consent on what she stated about Burhan Wani the other day.
It is certainly a healthy development , rather one more damaging dig for the BJP it being equal alliance partner in the government, sources said adding that the impact is seen more as none of the BJP ministers have come out with any reaction or clarification , nor have they responded with some clarity as they do not believe in what the Chief Minister stated. This response was much needed as BJP has not changed its stand and policy towards dealing with militancy , handling separatists and separatists besides hitting out Pakistan for flaring up flames across Valley. There is a big question mark over silence of BJP ministers on this issue, sources said.
