Avinash Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, July 29: A senior officer of education department, who at present is posted in Kathua district, has attained notoriety for being 'debauch'. He is alleged to be 'harassing' female teachers. However, responding to an anonymous complaint, the government acted swiftly and ordered an enquiry into the allegations. Sources in Education department told Early Times the enquiry was initiated by the director school education (DSE), Jammu, following the intervention of chief minister. "The chief minister's office had received an anonymous complaint in June last in which some female teachers from Kathua district had alleged harassment by the senior functionary of the department, who claims to be the friend of a senior bureaucrat", sources said, adding that taking a serious note of the allegations, the office of education minister directed DSE to take necessary action. Sources said that in the anonymous complaint, female teachers of Kathua district had alleged that the officer frequently 'harassed' them. "We, the lady teachers, working in district Kathua very regretfully bring to your notice that the officer is a shameless person, and showing the influence of his bureaucrat friend, he threatens to get us transferred to the places of his choice. He also abuses and touches us", the complaint, forwarded to the CM, alleges. On the intervention of the chief minister and the education ministry, DSE had formed a 2-member committee to look into the alleged matter. "Neelam Kumari HoD, DIET Jammu, and Sushma Verma, HoD, presently in Directorate of School Education, Jammu, are hereby appointed as inquiry officers to conduct a detailed enquiry into the complaint by personally visiting at least 10 schools/offices of district Kathua", says the order issued by DSE on July 4 last. "However the inquiry committee, as per order has to submit its report within a week, but due to the summer vacation it did not happen," sources in DSE said. They said that the two members enquiry committee was on the job and was likely to submit its report next week. |
