Early Times Report

Jammu, July 30; People who are aggrieved with Government offices won't have to personally go to State Information Commission (SIC) for filing appeals and complaints against the public authorities. The State Information Commission (SIC) has now provided an online facility of filing the appeals and complaints against such public authorities and Govt offices .
Details available with Early Times reveals that State Information Commission (SIC), has launched an online portal for the facility of those appellants and complainants who wish to file the appeals and complaints against various Public Information Officers (PIOs) online.
The appellants and complainants intending to file online appeals / complaints will have to scan all their documents like RTI application, receipt of RTI fees payment (Postal order , cash receipt etc) , response if any from PIO, speed post receipt if application sent via post. During the online appeal and complaint filing , all these scanned documents have to be attached. The online appeal and complaint filing not only saves time but it saves money as energy of people as they will not have to travel all along to SIC offices in Jammu or Srinagar.
"Earlier an RTI appellant from Kishtwar or Rajouri had to travel all along to Jammu for filing an appeal before State Information Commission (SIC) , similarly people from Kupwara or Kargil had to come over to Srinagar , but with the online facility , such people can do this work from their respective districts and we hail SIC for providing this facility " says Mohammad Ramzan Khan Social & RTI Activist from Gurais Bandipora
RTI activists have demanded that Government must provide facilities of enabling people to file RTI applications online. " In many states the RTI applications are filed online , J&K Govt must also start similar facility so that time and money of people is saved" said Mohammad Sidiq RTI Activist from Rajouri
