MLA gets FIR lodged against hospital staff, only to face counter FIR

Kishtwar, July 30: Kishtwar police late Friday evening registered an FIR against the staff and officials of District Hospital Kishtwar including doctor and Paramedical staff on duty who denied the medicines to the poor patient hailing from remote Kuchhal area of Inderwal constituency. The action was initiated after the intervention of MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori
As per the details available with "Early Times", MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori along with few of his associates visited District Hospital Kishtwar.
As per the report, MLA Inderwal was approached by one Bashir Ahmed of Kuchhal area of Inderwal whose wife Hajzra Begum was undergoing treatment at District Hospital Kishtwar Bashir Ahmed told MLA Inderwal that he was asked by the doctors to purchase medicines despite him being poor. On checking the medicines purchased by the poor attendant, it came to fore that the medicines were available in the hospital stock. Saroori brought the matter into the notice of senior officers and also checked the stock register of the District Hospital Kishtwar. Other patients who narrated the similar tale forcing MLA Inderwal to approach the Kishtwar police for registration of an FIR against the hospital management and the staff for betraying the poor patients as well as misusing the government property by denying its benefit to the deserving persons.
Acting on the complaint, Kishtwar police registered FIR No. 146/2016 U/S 403/406 RPC against the hospital management, staff and the unknown physician who attended the patient and asked her attendant to purchase the medicines on the pretext that same was not available in the hospital stock.
When contacted, the MLA termed the event as unfortunate and regretted that the poor patients were denied the medicines by the hospital authorities.
Meanwhile, infuriated by the registration of FIR, the doctors and Paramedical staff posted at District Hospital Kishtwar observed a complete strike chocking the medical services in the hospital that caused unnecessary harassment and inconvenience to the hapless patients who visited the hospital today. The agitating Doctors and the paramedical staff were demanding immediate rollback of an FIR registered against the Hospital management and the staff. They alleged that a close associate MLA Inderwal allegedly slapped, misbehaved and used unparliamentarily language and beat a Junior Pharmacist Mohammad Sadeeq and submitted a counter complaint, following which Kishtwar police register an FIR No. 147/2016 against unknown persons at police station Kishtwar.
As soon as Doctors and Paramedical staff went on strike, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma, Dy. SP HQ Kishtwar Touseef Ahmed and others immediately rushed to District Hospital Kishtwar to take the stock of the situation.
MLA Inderwal denied any such incident wherein any of his associates was involved in manhandling of hospital staff and termed the accusation as tactics to cover up their wrong doings. He also releases some video clips in support of his claims.
