| Govt employee turns RTI activist to seek undue benefits for his wife | | |

Jammu, Aug 4: In an interesting development, an "unusual RTI activist" has been making frequent visits to the University of Jammu (JU) "to use his influence on the University administration to seek undue benefit for his wife.
The irony is that the University, which claims to have put restrictions on the entry of outsiders visiting the campus without any purpose, had offered "VIP treatment" to this officer every time whenever he visited the campus for non-official purposes.
The story does not end here as the same officer has filed a number of RTI applications in the University to seek justice for his wife.
The University insiders said the RTI activist ignores his official duty and as has turned into an "active RTI activist" for the sake of his wife who had not been promoted for next grade because of her academic ineligibility and incompetency.
"The RTI activist has become a regular visitor of university campus. He has been making all out efforts to influence the university administration to get replies of RTI application in their favour so that justice to his incompetent wife is delivered," a senior official of university administration said.
The officials questioned as how could a government employee leave his station or posting place so frequently. "Frustrated with defeats from all corners, he has now adopted a new modus operandi under which he has himself filed RTI applications in his name to influence the varsity administration," the official added.
The duo, husband and wife, had also been trying to win sympathy in their favour by interacting with senior faculty members, the official said, adding "But they should also remember that promotions are not earned by just winning over the people but purely through competency and hard-work".
The official said the Vice Chancellor Professor R D Sharma, who always pretends to be an upright and principled man, has also failed to clip the wings of the wife of this government employee as she has openly been working against the interest of the institution. |
