8 yrs on, Vijaypur school awaits completion of exam hall

Jammu, Aug 23: Government Higher Secondary School, Jakh of Vijaypur Zone of district Samba exposed previous as well as incumbent government's seriousness towards education sector, as in absence of Examination Hall at school, authority compelled to suspend the class work during various examinations conducted in it.
Pleading anonymity, an official of education department informed Early Times that Omar led government had sanctioned an examination hall building to this school in 2008 at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakhs. However, the department concerned is the executing agency, same year the contractor completes the construction work on plinth level after that he stopped construction for reasons best known to higher authorities of education department.
"Although, the enrollment of the school is good, each year more than 600 students enrolled from class IX -XII. Class rooms in this school are sufficient but during various examinations, the class work is suspended.", official said.
Castigating, lackadaisical approach of state government as well as higher authority of education department they said that if the school shall have an examination hall then the class works of the school was not affected. It was astoundingly that lapse of consecutive time period the construction work of examination hall would not started again.
"State Board of School Education made bi- annual examination centre in such schools where haven't sufficient infrastructure to conduct such type of examination, need to felt to conduct such type of examination smoothly in such schools, government had announced numbers of examination hall building in various schools across the state in which most of them was completed but in this school construction work of the building hang in balance.
When contacted Sarpanch of the area they said that many times locals urged contractor but they replied he had completed the work above to the tune of nearly six lakhs has been completed but education department had release funds only two lakhs. "Contractor further said that if department concern will release their pending fund he will restore construction of the building", Sarpanch said.
When contacted Chief Education Officer, Samba Om Parkash Bhagat said that he was newly appointed, not aware about the construction work of the building. You may please contact the principal of the school.
Deepak Gupta, principal of school accepted, he said that time and again he had written to CEO for release of pending funds, so that the pending construction work of the examination hall will be resumed but all in vain no action will be taken by department concern till date.
