Kashmir unrest no 'freedom struggle'
8/24/2016 11:49:25 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 24: Kashmir unrest is not the struggle for freedom as interpreted by a section of opinion makers in the State and country but it is a conspiracy of the vested elements in active politics fearing a probe by the Union government agencies huge properties and wealth amassed by them after looting State exchequer over the years after independence.
According to some progressive analysts on Kashmir this is not for the first time in Kashmir that large scale mob violence took place but it may be recalled that in January 1991 when Jagmohan took over the Governor of the State and the then NC-Congress coalition government resigned from office in protest against his appointment as Governor large scale mob violence was reported from various parts of Kashmir Valley in general and Capital city of Srinagar in particular.
The rumors were set afloat during the night when Jagmohan assumed office against him and imposition of Governor rule and the then coalition led by Dr Farooq Abdullah did not lose a single minute in submitting the resignation of the council of ministers in protest against the appointment of Jagmohan as the new governor of the State without the consultation of the State government, the analysts said.
They said the resignation of the coalition paved the way for imposition of Governor's rule and after Jagmohan announced action against the corruption and warned to book the corrupt officers and politicians under law rumors were set afloat during the night when he assumed the office by the vested elements and entire Kashmir Valley was put on fire to involve the Governor in tackling the law and order situation instead of devoting his time to better the functioning of the administrative machinery and take action against corrupt officials and politicians as Jagmohan had announced to probe the utilization of funds on various government schemes.
The analysts said that this time again the problem is same as some politicians and bureaucrats fearing action by the Union Government which wanted to check the corrupt practices in the State they exploited the common masses and forced them to come to streets to protest against the government.
This section of politicians and bureaucrats which according to sources is not the well wisher of Kashmiris but want to push them towards the wall for their vested interests so that the government does not get time and opportunity to order probe into bungling in which some politicians and bureaucrats were involved under a nexus.
Confirming this, high placed sources in government said that these vested elements are exploiting the religious and regional sentiments of the people for their own interests.
Sources said unfortunately the common masses in Kashmir don't see through the game plan of these vested elements who have looted the State exchequer over the years as maximum funds given by Union government during the last 70 years have gone down the drain.
Misappropriating these funds constructing mansions and making properties worth crores of rupees these bureaucrats and politicians have become billionaires over the years at the cost and sufferings of common masses of the State.
Sources said if the Union government tightens its noose over such elements and orders a probe into the assets and properties owned by these politicians and bureaucrats without succumbing to any pressure from any quarter 50 percent situation will improve in Valley as a section of Kashmiri people who are taking people to ransom from time to time for last 27 years are also blackmailing India on the behest of these vested elements.
