Jammu, Aug 24: In a yet another attempt to appease their masters sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) the Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday said that Pakistan should be included in any talks process which is held vis-a-vis Kashmir.
Mirwaiz today termed the unrest in the Kashmir a "political problem" which requires a "political solution". He demanded that all stakeholders, including Pakistan, should be included in any proposed talks over the Kashmir issue. "It's always separatists, Pakistan or traitors who are blamed (for problems in the valley) and never the Indian establishment," he said.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "The Mirwaiz wants to appease his masters sitting across the LoC by giving statements in favour of Pakistan. He knows it very well that Pakistan has been snubbed by India and New Delhi is not interested in talking to the neighboring country. He is issuing such statements to build pressure on India."
He said, "Mirwaiz and other separatists know it very well that ongoing protest would fizzle out within a few days and once the protests are over they will become irrelevant once again. By demanding the inclusion of Pakistan into talks process he wants to score brownie points over his opponents the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani and JKLF Chief Yasin Malik."
A Kashmir watcher said, "When President Musharaf was ruling Pakistan, Mirwaiz used to enjoy the patronage of Pakistan but after he (Mushraf) was ousted out of power, the Pakistan government changed its policy and disempowered Mirwaiz. Nawaz Sharif empowered Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani following which many separatists deserted Mirwaiz and joined Geelani's camp."
He said, "Since the day present unrest has engulfed Kashmir Mirwaiz has started acting like a hardliner and has been instrumental in issuing strike calendars. Mirwaiz is doing all this to get attention and prove that he is the boss."
A Kashmir watcher said, "Pakistan stands isolated and it has been proven beyond doubt that it supports and abets terror. Despite Pakistan supporting violence and terrorism in Kashmir it is creating a notion that present uprising is indigenous. To support Pakistan's claim their agents are creating a notion that Pakistan is a party to Kashmir."
He said, "The present unrest in Kashmir is all about money as Pakistan has pumped in lot of money to keep the pot boiling. Now people like Mirwaiz are issuing provocative statements to ensure that they remain in good books of their bosses so that they keep on filling their coffers. Separatists have turned youth into cannon fodder for their vested interests."
