What is my status and where is my Indian Constitution? | Bhim on nature of Kashmir unrest | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 25: Panthers Party chief Bhim Singh is one political personality of Delhi-based J&K politician who is seldom taken seriously. The reason is that he has never been consistent. He talks of the interests of the Dogra and curses New Delhi and Kashmiri leadership for their woes and pain and then suddenly does a U-turn and bats for Kashmiri leaders and even militants. He could even fight on behalf of a murderer of Kashmiri Hindus and others like Bitta Karate and secure his release. That's the reason there where he was when he launched with much fanfare Panthers Party. However, the other day, Bhim Singh was in a different avatar while participating in a debate on the Kashmir unrest, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's visit to Srinagar and the related issues. The debate was organized by national news channel AajTak. His was an emotional intervention or outburst. Rebutting Sajad Lone's Delhi-based sister lawyer, Shabnam Lone's sinister arguments on the Kashmir unrest and attacking the custodians of the Indian State, Bhim Singh asked many pertinent questions and made very significant statements. "What is the political status of J&K vis-à-vis India," Bhim Singh asked. "I am from Jammu and Kashmir; I am Dogra from Jammu," he said, and bemoaned saying the people of the state were still not part of the national mainstream despite the fact that the state acceded to India 70 years ago". His most pertinent question was: "Why my Indian Constitution was not in Jammu and Kashmir and why are the people of the state and Dogras of Jammu kept outside the ambit of the Indian Constitution? What he said was very, very significant and the manner in which he said was all the more moving. The Government of India and the Kashmiri leadership must answer the questions which Bhim Singh raised because his were very relevant questions. |
