Army successfully foils Infiltration bid in Karnah, one Jawan injured

Kupwara, Aug 25: A soldier was injured today as army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of North Kashmir.
Police sources said, "The alert troops manning the Line of Control (LoC) observed the movement of 2-3 heavily armed militants while trying to sneak into this side of Line of Control near Sultan Post in Kupwara sector." Sources said, "When challenged by the army, the armed intruders opened heavy indiscriminate firing upon the security forces triggering a fierce encounter in which one army jawan sustained injuries." "Here it needs to mention that a spurt has been noticed in the infiltration by militants along the LoC in Kashmir valley especially in border districts like Kupwara and Baramulla, he added while sharing details with Early Times. Lauding the significant role of alert security troops, he said that vigil and prompt retaliatory action to militants firing have pushed the armed militants back to the other side of LoC. Meanwhile Defence Spokesperson Srinagar Col N N Koshi told Early Times that one jawan sustained injuries and he has been hospitalized for his injuries, while as search operation is being carried out in the forests near sultan post. Pertinent to mention in a similar foiling of infiltration bid the security forces have neutralized three militants in an encounter in Tangdar area on Aug 21. Huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the site of encounter. It was the second such infiltration bid foiled by the security forces along the LoC in Kashmir in three days.
Prior to this, Army has foiled an infiltration bid on July 30 (Saturday) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector of Kashmir's Kupwara district by eliminating two militants in the operation while two jawan also attained martyrdom. As per officials two AK rifles, one UBGL and other war-like stores were recovered from the scene of the gun battle. Earlier four militants were killed and one was apprehended alive in a failed infiltration bid on July 26 in Naugam sector along LoC.
