Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 26: Deploring the demand for plebiscite in the state for settlement of the so called Kashmir issue as per the UN resolution, the former Union Minister Chaman Lal Gupta recalled that in the much talked resolution it was clearly stated that Pakistan should vacate the occupied areas, but instead of doing so Pakistan has created havoc with the whole issue and made mockery of the UN resolve.
Gupta pointed out that quite contrary to provisions of resolution Pakistan has created permanent structures including the Mangla Dam for benefit of Pakistan.
The whole area of Mirpur including the historic city has been submerged under waters. The population of Mirpur areas was forced to become migrants to the extent that large numbers of Mirpuris have settled in UK and some other countries abroad.
Not only this, over 35% minorities including Hindus, Sikhs and others have been liquidated through mass killings, forced conversions and in other inhuman means.
There is hardly any family belonging to minorities left in the so called Azad Kashmir, he added and said that large number of Punjabi's and other Pakistani's have been settled in their place resulting in total demographic change.
He further pointed out that there are reports that many other foreigners including Burmese are being settled in this POK.
Gupta also referred to the fact that Pakistan has handed over large areas of the state to China with a view to ensure Chinese support at the International Forum.
He also referred to the vandalism being committed in installing puppet Governments in POK. The latest drama of elections of the PoK assembly is resulting still anti Pakistan demonstrations.
Referring to problems in Kashmir Gupta reiterated that violence, separatism and other suchlike problems are the result of the maneuvers from across the LOC/Borders. To this end religious fanatics are being employed who have made a hell of the situation causing great harm to the whole polity and economy of the State.
Gupta also observed that urchins are being hired to attack the Police Stations as also the Camps of security forces with the obvious result of loss of life and sufferings to thousands of others.
He welcomed the reports that the state administration would identify the trouble mongers behind the prevailing sad situation in many parts of the valley.
They should be dealt with firmly under law who generate violence and encourage cross border terror. Their crime is more condemnable as per the reports that these leaders have sent their own children and dear ones abroad to become Doctors, Engineers and other technocrats, but hiring the children of poor for stone pelting and indulging in subversive activities.
