Will M.M.Ansari break ice in Kashmir ?
8/26/2016 11:09:10 PM
Will M.M.Ansari,one of the three interlocutors,be able to break the ice in Kashmir after he is being roped in for holding talks with all stakeholders? Possibilities seem to be remote because when the interlocutors visited Kashmir twice they failed to meet the separatists who were not willing to discuss even the reports framed by the interlocutors. The situation has assumed alarming dimensions in Kashmir and an impression has gone round the valley that Azadi was round the corner if the protesters showed added grit..That is the reason that has motivate the separatists to extend their calendar for shutdown and marches till september 1.This very programme also indicates that these separatists, especially the hardliners, were not eager to meet Rajnath Singh who, during his two-day stay in Srinagar had kept the doors of the Guest House open for all political leaders to come and discuss the issues
The united separatist leaders Wednesday extended the strike call upto September 1 and called for 'Eidgah Chalo' and 'Badami Bagh Chalo' on August 26 and 27 besides announcing relaxations in shutdown for four days from 6 pm to 6 am and for three days from 10 pm to 6 am.The top separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik, who are spearheading the ongoing agitation in the Valley, today issued a fresh "protest calendar". In the calendar, they have extended the strike upto September 1. Kashmir has been witnessing curfew, restrictions and shutdown since last 47 days.Authorities have been imposing curfew and restrictions to foil protests while separatists have been calling for shutdown and protests against the continued civilian killings during the ongoing unrest triggered by the killing of 21-year-old Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8.In the fresh calendar issued , the separatist leaders called for various marches. They also announced relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am on four days -- August 27, 28, 30 and 31 and relaxation from 10 pm to 6 am for three days - August 26, 29 and September 1.The leaders called on people to stage protests across Jammu and Kashmir, observe shutdown on all days except the relaxation mentioned in the program. People were also asked to lockdown all the routes entering their mohallas, villages and localities by every means during night to protect people from the raids and arrests by forces and police.
Well the Government of India is trying to adopt stern measures as well as soft ways for ending turmoil. One such measures is to make a provision of providing jobs to 50,000 youth so that once they joined their duty there would be not many to derail peace. Another measures is that instructions have gone to the security and intelligence agencies for carryhing out immediate crackdown on 80 radicalised people, including Jamat-e-Islami who have been inciting people to violence. But here the Government of India has wrong reports because separatists, both hard liners and moderates, vitiate the atmosphere by giving calls for shutdowns and protest marches. Well the other tough measures on the anvil is imposition of Governor's rule with Assembly to remain in animated suspension. But PDP and BJP leaders seem to be critical of this measures on the plea that the state was not placed under Governor's rule in 2010 when 120 people were killed in clashes that spread over five months. Better alternative is to wait and given jobs to the youth and end energy crisis.
