Bandh call evokes poor response in Poonch | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Aug 27: The Poonch bandh call called by Ulemas of Poonch district today received a poor response here today as business and traffic remained as usual. The call was given to express their resentment against civil killings in the Kashmir Valley and to express their solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Business community and transporters defied the bandh call in main Poonch, Mendher as shops and others business establishment remained open while a partial bandh call was observed In Surankote and Mandi where some business establishments remained shuttered down. In Poonch city some shop keepers in Majority community areas closed their shops while Bandh Call affected the local traffic only for two to three hours through the day. During the partial bandh some youths were seen raising slogans in favour of restoration of peace in the valley. Reports said that the Ulemas had also asked the villagers not to visit Poonch today as a protest which the villagers did not fallow. Meanwhile various Hindu organizations have appreciated the steps taken by the central and state governments to crush the Pro Azaadi movement in the Kashmir Valley and the poor response to bandh call has proved that they are not with the Kashmiri people in their Pro Azaadi Movement.
