Pak agencies behind POK women offering bangles to UN chief

Early Times Report

Jammu,Aug 27: A symbolic protest which can be carried out by people in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir..This time women, who are otherwise denied of fundamental rights in Pakistan, offered their bangles to UN Secretary General,Ban Ki-moon simply to remind the UN chief of the inaction that the UN has committed by not stopping killings in Kashmir. In fact it was for the first time that women in Pakistan displayed their resentment when they remained mum during the five-month long protests in Kashmir in 2010 in which 120 people were killed.Possibly that time the coalition Government in Kashmir was led by National Conference in alliance with the Congress. And possibly for women in Pakistan both the National Conference and the Congress have secular credentials and every citizen of Pakistan is scared of the BJP that shares power with the PDP.Does it mean that women in Pakistan displayed their anger against the BJP even if 69 people have been killed and more than 3,000 security personnel have been injured in stone pelting
Women in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) offered their bangles to UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, an insult in patriarchal South Asia aimed at the UN head's perceived inaction over killings in Kashmir.Hundreds of refugee women marched in Muzzafarabad, capital of the PoK, chanting slogans against the UN and India as some clutched their bangles in their hands in protest, reports said from across the LOC.Kashmir has been under curfew since protests broke out over the death of militant Commander, Burhan Wani on July 8, 67 civilians have been killed in clashes between protesters and government forces and thousands more injured.
What is amazing and intriguing is the way people in Pakistan occupied Kashmir have been totally denied of fundamental rights. In fact the occupied Kashmir is simply a colony administered by Islamabad notwithstanding the fact that the occupied Kashmir has its civilian Government and the Assembly.
But in real terms political and financial powers enjoyed by the POK Government and people are in the hands of Islamabad.Whatever rights people enjoy in POK have been guaranteed by Islamabad and it is simply a rule from the powers that be in Islamabad.Still women in POK offered their bangles to Ban Ki-moon simply to provoke the Un Secretary General to initiate moves to check killings in Kashmir.
Do women in POK have any idea that only in Kashmir where people enjoy full freedom and fundamental rights can voice anger through violent protests over the killing of a militant commander Burhan Wani. Will Islamabad allow people in POK to raise a voice against Islamabad and Pakistan establishment ? Certainly not.Once people raise their heads they would be crushed by the Pakistani forces, especially the Army.
This means that Islamabad and official agencies in Muzaffarabad have been behind this symbolic protests by women otherwise the UN has already made its mind clear by favouring Indo-Pak direct dialogue. And the UN and the USA have indicated, rather announced, that they have no idea for either mediating or intervening in he matter because it is a bilateral issue.
