DSP, SHO make good 'chacha-bhatija' Jodi
8/29/2016 12:13:16 AM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 28: A DSP and a SHO, known as chacha-bhatija in the district police circles here, make a good 'Jodi' when it comes to minting money through unfair means. They allegedly indulge in almost every type of unlawful activity, but no information has ever got leaked. Such is the level of understanding between them.
Both are posted in Jammu district. "Before their posting here, a number of cattle smuggling cases used to be registered almost on regular basis, but no such case has been reported from there since the time of their posting in the area," police sources alleged.
The area is infamous for cattle smuggling as some notorious cattle smugglers live there. The two officers were alleged to be receiving a huge share of the money generated from cattle smuggling. "A national highway stretch, that falls under their jurisdiction, is another major source of their earning," sources alleged.
Thefts and other petty crimes were also on the rise there, but senior officers, who were alleged to be quite thick with them, were not taking any action against them. A murder also took place in the area some time back. "Though protests have also been held against the SHO by locals, no action was taken against him due to his understanding with the DSP," sources alleged.
"They have saved each other whenever inquiries were initiated against them by seniors," sources alleged, saying they strike all the illegal deals with anti-social elements in the areas that do not fall under their jurisdiction.
Both of them were alleged to be the 'blue-eyed' of some senior police officers.
