| Mehbooba in favour of talks to be held with separatists also | | | Chief Minister,Mehbooba Mufti may be right when she says that 95 per cent people want peace in Kashmir and the remaining five per cent people incite people to indulge in acts of violence. Yes,she may be correct when she says that this very five per cent people force youth belonging to the poor families to hurl stones and clash with the security forces that results in their death.At the same time she wants Prime Minister,Narendra Modi to talk to all stakeholders.And in the second breath she does not want trouble mongers to be involved in talks.If trouble mongers who incite people to violence are not involved in talks it could mean that the process of dialogue may not prove result oriented.In fact separatists, whether hardliners or moderates,have been inciting people to indulge in acts of violence.
They call for shutdowns. They call for protest rallies and marches with the result during these shutdowns and protest rallies protesters clash with the security forces and the result is death to many people and injuries to even greater number of people.This way when Mehbooba talks about involving all stakeholders in talks it becomes imperative for the Government of India to reopen the process of dialogue with the separatists.
Calling for initiation of a dialogue with the 95 per cent people who genuinely wanted peace and were of a different ideology from those inciting Kashmiri youth to violence, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday expressed confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assurance that there would be dialogue.Mehbooba has said, after meeting the PM in New Delhi,, Mehbooba said, "I have hope that when the PM says there will be dialogue, and dialogue with everyone, then it would happen. Kashmiri people should trust those who begin the dialogue; it's only then that whatever they say, the message will be received well.
"Those who are provoking Kashmiri youth to attack army camps, they have no interest in dialogue; no point talking to them. But there are others who genuinely want peace and are of a different ideology; there should certainly be dialogue with them, it is the 95 per cent people who want peaceful resolution, Mehbooba has said, adding that it is only Indian democracy which had space and freedom to allow Kashmiri people to dream of living with peace and dignity
Well dialogue can be one of the ways for resolving the turmoil.In fact the state and the central Governments should be keen to end violence for the time being. As far as resolving the Kahsmir issue it is not a simple matter and as simple as stone throwers in Kashmir believe.If Mehbooba wants talks to be held with 95 per cent people which may be a difficult exercise but the process of dialogue should be held with as many people as possible,a cross section of political leaders including separatists.In reality separatists have been responsible for derailing peace for triggering turmoil and they do so because they have support from Pakistan and militants. And India has rightly announced that if ever talks are to be held with Pakistan it should focuss on terror and nothing else.
But strangely Pakistan wants talks to be held on Kashmir.Let Pakistan stop exporting terror to India,including Jammu and Kashmir if it wants peace.This way Mehbooba may not be correct to say that talks with 95 per cent people could end turmoil but not the Kashmir problem.
And Modi needs to take into account all the tricks of the game while reopening channels of dialogue. |
