Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 31: Federation of Industries Jammu in a meeting held today under the chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan raised serious concern over Power Development Department's failure to supply 24 hours uninterrupted power to Industrial sector in spite of the fact that Chief Engineer M&RE, Jammu instructed the Executive Engineers STD Division I & II to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Industrial sector vide its office order No- CEJ/PS/10596-602 dated 06-10-2015, but the instructions were subsequently withdrawn by the Chief Engineer vide its letter CEJ/PS-1/PS/1555-62 dated 30-05-2016 for the reason best known to the Department.
It is pertinent to mentioned here that on one side, Govt. is inviting Industrial Houses in our State to setup their unit with the promise of providing uninterrupted power supply but on the other hand failed to provide uninterrupted quality power to the existing Industrial Units working in the State resulting great resentment amongst the stake holders.
At present the units located in the Bari Brahmana, Gangyal, Samba, Birpur & Digiana Industrial areas are suffering very badly due to unscheduled power curtailment during day time also resulting huge financial losses to the unit holders.
In spite of repeated request & reminders to the Power Development Department for providing supply from the dedicated industrial feeders to Gangyal, Birpur & Digiana Industrial Areas, no action is taken so far & the power to the Domestic areas is also being fed from the receiving stations in these Industrials complexes resulting unscheduled tripping & curtailments. The request for the upgradation of receiving station meant for Gangyal, Birpur & Digiana Industrial Estates is still pending with the Govt. since long but no action has been taken till date which shows the casual attitude of the Department towards the Industrial Sector. Federation of Industries Jammu requested. Nirmal Kumar Singh, Deputy Chief Minister and also Minister for Power and Chander Prakash, Industries & Commerce Minister to kindly intervene into the matter & issue immediate orders for the restoration of 24 hours uninterrupted power supply to the industrial sector with the instructions to the concerned officials for the shifting of domestic load from the receiving stations meant for Industrial Sector & also to Upgradation of all the receiving stations located in Industrial Areas to ensure the uninterrupted power supply to the Industrial Units.
