BPCL conducts disaster management mock fire drill

Jammu, Aug 31: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) a fortune 500 company known for its modern and technological advancements having an Oil terminal in Jammu city today conducted a routine mock drill to check its preparedness to meet any eventuality.
According to spokesperson, the depot staff keeps on conducting the fire drills at periodical intervals as per SOPs to check its preparedness to meet such any eventuality under the disaster control management plan in association with external agencies like fire services, hospitals, mutual aid members like IOCL and HPCL with the active involvement of the district administration.
"Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Public Distribution G S Chib along with his team witnessed the Fire emergency drill conducted today, he said
"Three teams comprising of Firefighting, Auxiliary and Rescue members exhibited a synchronized display of efforts to contain the same, spokesperson said, adding, "Fire emergency services and members of mutual aid from the adjoining IOC/HPC depots also helped in overcoming this mock emergency situation."
Special invitee on the occasion G S Chib, Director FCS &PD, appreciated the efforts made by the company to achieve excellence not only in the market but also maintaining the safety standards with highest level of alertness. He also assured that the matter of relocating the oil terminals and other issues highlighted are on the active consideration of administration, steps for which have already been initiated by his department. Earlier addressing the post drill discussions Territory Manager (Retail) BPCL, Rajesh Sharma reiterated the need of adhering to safe practices which is the part of SOP of depot operations. He also requested the Director FCS&PD to address the long pending issue of the oil companies to create a smooth access to the depots which otherwise remains Jam-packed on account of FCI trucks and it becomes difficult even for the external help to reach the spot in case of any real exigency.
