G S Asgotra Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 31: Notwithstanding the fact that Rs. 10,000/- salary has been proposed by Union Labour Minister to all contractual workers, working in Public or Private Sectors, its own organization-Jammu Kashmir Employees Funds Organization (JKEPFO) which provides social and financial security to workers, has denied salaries to contractual staff, engaged as data operator. Contractual employees were initially appointed as data operators in 2015 but they have been deprived of provident funds facilities so far, showing double yardsticks for employees of JKEPO. Source in organization told Early Times that in month of January, 2015 the same organization had appointed 10 contractual staffers who were doing diploma in DOEACC Jammu, as data operators in Regional Head Office, Railway Road, Jammu by conducting proper interview but even after lapse of one and half year, they are still deprived of these facilities so far. The source further said that when these employees raised their voice against misdeed of the department, out of 10, five were transferred to Samba Office. "The officers of the department did not stop there, they even withheld the salaries of these employee for the last five months" said another contractual employee. An employee deputed at Main Branch, Jammu said that on one hand, JKEPFO had directed private employers, who have engaged more than 10 employees, to cover them under the scheme but on the other, it was found violating its own directives. "No doubt, we are working as contractual employees but at least we should have been covered under this scheme as per the set norms envisaged in the provident scheme," said an aggrieved employee adding that the approach of the department could be gauged this fact, after lapse of one and half year from the engagement in the department, the JKEPFO had been depositing their salaries in the account of DOEACC, Jammu, instead of their account. However, the DOEACC, Jammu time and again asked to JKEPFO to deposit their salaries in their individual accounts but latter turned deaf ears to the request. |
