HC issues notice to DGP, directs SHO to file status report of probe | Domana police accused of hushing up murder case | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 31: In a petition, accusing Domana police of hushing up the alleged murder of an elderly man at Sarora on the Jammu city outskirts, high court judge Tashi Rabstan has issued notices to DGP, IGP, Jammu, SSP, Jammu, and others, besides directing the Domana police station SHO to file the status report of investigation before the next date of hearing. Issuing notices to respondents, he said dasti service was also permissible and directed to list the case immediately after service was complete. After preliminary hearing, the court directed to issue show cause notice as to why rule nisi should not be issued. "Notice is hereby given to you that if you wish to contest the petition, you may appear in person or through an advocated appointed by you within the prescribed time. In default of your appearance, the petition will be heard and determined in your absence on any subsequent date and no further notice in relation thereto will be given to you," the court directed Tuesday. Early Times had covered the issue comprehensively in its June 14, 2016 issue. As police allegedly did nothing in the case and continued dragging their feet, victim Des Raj's son Parshotam Singh moved the high court. He said as he had lost all faith in SHO, Domana, he should be divested of the case investigation. "Let CBI or crime branch of police be directed to carry out an indepth probe into the incident," he demanded. Police investigation in the case allegedly failed to make any 'headway' even as Parshotam had brought the matter to the notice of a 'senior' police officer. Des Raj, son of Lal Chand of Sarora, was allegedly murdered by three persons of the village over a land dispute on July 11, 2015, but the concerned police were yet to even pick up the accused for questioning, Parshotam alleged. In his complaint made to the 'senior' cop on November 23, 2015, Parshotam has named all the accused, including two real brothers. He alleged that on July 11, 2015, an accomplice of the two accused brothers came to their house at about 7.30 pm and took his father with him. "He was seen taking my father with him by my wife Monika Devi. He again came to our house at about 9 pm, but this time in an inebriated condition, and asked Monika to search for her father-in-law," he claimed. "The next day, we recovered the body from a nullah, nearly half a kilometer from our residence. It bore injury marks, indicating that it was a clear case of murder," he said. Parshotam alleged that when Domana police took almost no interest in the case, he submitted a written complaint to the 'senior' cop on November 23, 2015 and was surprised to note that even it made no impact on the police investigation. On April 18, 2012, Des Raj had submitted a written complaint to then senior police officer of Jammu region, alleging therein that the two real brothers and their three accomplices had set ablaze his cowshed which he had constructed on his land in the village. In his complaint, he had also apprehended a threat to his life from the accused. Though a complaint in this regard was lodged by him with Domana police station also, but then SHO was alleged to have taken no action against the accused.
