Forward area people of Poonch scared of Uri attack , demand permanent shelters

Poonch, Sept 24: People living close to LOC in forward areas of Balakot, Mandi KG and Gulpur sectors in this border district have been scared of recent attack on a military installation of at URI in district barmulla by Pakistani intruder in which 18 soldiers attained martyrdom sources said here today.
Locals of several villages close to Loc expressed their resentment that we have been the soft targets to the bullets and shelling of neighbouring country usually but the government never paid any heed towards our sufferings.
They said last year too Pakistan restored to shelling in these forward areas in which 7 people were killed and 17 injured besides damages to our peripheries .Several leaders of national and regional parties came here including AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi and fromer chief Minister late Mufti Mohd sayeed and assured us that we will be provided with permanent concrete bunkers for our safety but nothing has been done in this regard so far they further said , Balakote Youth President Zaher Khan . Adding we are the soft target of Pakistan and we are feared as it has intensified the incidents of shelling and indiscrimination firing on borders.
It is pertinent to mention here that temporary colonies were established in Suhella , Panjani , Dharati , Biryani gali, Ramlutta and Behri Dabbi for safety of the border people who were off and targeted by indiscriminate firing and shelling across the border but people deserted them as these temporary shelters were also targeted and people came back to their houses. Balakote youth club chairman Er. Majid Khatana has urged the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to take effective measures for the safety of people living close to the LOC and were becoming off and on the target of firing and shelling across the border . The permanent bunkers were the need of the hour for the people of Balkot mandi , KG and Gulpur sectors in district Poonch he added.
