9/24/2016 11:11:09 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 24 : CJM, Reasi, Kamlesh Pandita today rejected the bail applications of two alleged rape accused.
They included Rakesh Kumar alias Rakeshu, son of Sita Ram, and Pardeep Kumar alias Ashu, son of Gopal Krishan, both residents of Pagha Jaranu, Reasi. They have been booked by police under sections 376, 452, 323, 109 and 34 of RPC.
On August 5, 2016, the victim lodged a complaint with police against the accused, alleging therein that they had enemity with her husband over a land dispute and used to harass and molest her. Taking a serious note of it, her husband had spoken to the accused and asked them not to repeat it again. She alleged that they entered her bedroom on the night of August 4, 2016 while she was sleeping with her children. They allegedly caught hold of her and beat her with fists and blows. While Ashu shut her mouth, Rakeshu untied the string of her trouser and committed rape on her, she alleged, saying the accused, along with two other persons who were sitting outside, fled the spot after giving her a life threat.
The CJM, after hearing the two sides, observed that rape 'is crime against one's mind, psyche and reputation and it leaves a permanent scar on the life of the victim and it becomes horrendous for her to lead a dignified and respected life in the society. It is very sad that now a days that we see marked increase in the rape instances and ravenous maniacs are not sparing even the girls of tender age and the courts in such offences have to take a call and exercise jurisdiction in such a way, which is appreciated by the civil society at large'.
With these observations, the court dismissed the bail applications of the accused.(JNF)
