Rally for constitutional rights organized at Samba

samba, Sept 24: Rally for Constitutional rights was held today in Samba by various socio-religious organizations, panches, sarpanches, and social activist, retired employees forums and logistically supported by Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Employees Association (JKRCEA).
In single voice all the religious heads of SC/ST/OBC communities of J&K whose population stands approximately 35-40 lac population condemned the state governments luke warm response in defending their position on the issue of Reservation in promotion. It was stressed upon the government to implement the stay order of Apex Court of India, in SLP titled Naseed Singh and ors versus J&K Govt. & ors, wherein High Court of J&K's blanket ban on reservation in promotions was stayed by the Apex court and carry on with the promotion process in different departments as per Reservation Act & SRO-294. It was further emphasized that although Constitutional 77th, 81st & 85th amendments are not operational in J&K, but in view of socialist structure of J&K constitution as well as constitution of India, the reservation in the matters of education, Employments & promotions is governed by an act of legislature in J&K called as Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act of 2004.
Taking into consideration all the aspects it was requested to the Chief Minister Mehabboba Mufti to intervene into this very sensitive & serious matter and advise Chief Secretary to implement the apex court order of stay of DB order of J&K High Court. Chief Minister is also requested to immediately call meeting of enforcement borad on monitoring & implementation of reservation in J&K, she being Chairman of said Board.
Speakers stressed upon the government to immediately come up with political solution to this very sensitive sociopolitical issues pertaining to more than 60% of the population of J&K. He warned that people may take drastic steps if callous attitude of government continues in the matter. They appealed for large scale social unity amongst SC, ST, OBC's for a bigger fight. They warned the micro minority of this country that comprises of only less than 10% to desist from issuing irrelevant statements including civil war threat.
