Early Times Report
SUNDERBANI, Sept 24: Launching a scathing attack on the saw mill owners of Sunderbani and Nowshera , the residents allege that the owners are making good use of the corrupt demeanor of the forest department by culling down woods illegally and making palatial furniture to be sold at astronomical costs .
It is earlier also reported that the saw mill owners are using illegal power connections in connivance with the department while they are equally in collusion with the forest department also as they get the wooden logs cut from nearby forests and use them to make costly furniture .
"Earlier also, there have been frequent charges lodged against the illegal saw mills owners in Sunderbani and Nowshera to be using the illegal means to attempt thievery in electricity as well as in forest department brazenly and by paying commission to the concerned officers doing the brisk business," said Ram Pradhan, a local vendor of the area .
He said the complaints lodged against them go on the deaf ears of the officials of the concerned departments every department has influential people posted who run the departments under the directions of the local Nowshera MLA.
The Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera Som Dutt however assured to take strict action, while the Range Officer Sunderbani Vinod Sharma had no perfect plan to deal the situation.
Many officials in forest department to whom this reporter contacted for a query remained evasive and shirking from spilling the beans.
"All are equal share partners in te loot as these saw mills are established near to forest areas so that an easy access could be made to the forest to cull the illegal wood .
This is done in connivance with forest officials who are equal partners with Saw mill owners as are electricity department officials are and hence there is no check," said another resident Sham Girdhari .
Besides they allege that since MLA Nowshera has complete control of the administrative mechanism in the area, the saw mill owners have his patronage along with forest officials and electric department employees who are equal in loot.
" MLA Nowshera is the major beneficiary in the loot," they allege
