NSS Foundation Day celebrated in Jammu

Jammu, Sept 24: Various educational institutions celebrated NSS Foundation Day with enthusiasm and zeal across Jammu.
NSS units of GGM Science College celebrated the NSS Foundation Day today in GGM Science College. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Ajeet Angral, Nodal Principal, Jammu Division Colleges.
The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest in presence of Dr. Ashok Kumar, HOD Chemistry, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. Vinod Bakshi, NSS Programme Officers and other faculty members. The programme commenced with lightning of the traditional lamp followed by the patriotic song by the NSS volunteers. The Guests were welcomed by Dr. Rajinder Singh who also threw light on the foundation of National Service Scheme in the Country and also on the Aims and Objectives of NSS. The NSS Volunteers namely Nitin Bakshi and Ayushvi also spoke on the occasion. A skit on the present evils in the society was also presented during the function besides other activities on the occasion.
The NSS unit of Govt. Degree College, Bishnah celebrated NSS Day with great fervor and enthusiasm. The programme began with the inspirational speech of Dr. Kuldip Raj Sharma, Principal of the College who was also the chief guest on the occasion. He congratulated the volunteers on this special day and motivated them to work on the motto, 'NOT ME, BUT YOU.' Prof. Seema Mir, Dean Student's Welfare also shared her views. The enthusiasm of the NSS volunteers was reflected through various cultural items which they presented on the stage followed by NSS oath. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Aksa Rao, NSS Programme Officer and supervised by Prof. Preeti Dogra, The Programme was anchored by Supriya, Sweety and Shabnam of B.A. Sem.- V.
NSS wing Government College for Women Udhampur organised NSS day celebration cum general orientation programme for students in general and NSS volunteers in particular. At the very outset Prof. Swarna Bhougal, NSS programme officer GCW Udhampur welcomed the guests and audience.
The programme began formally by the traditional lightening of the lamp by chief guest of the occasion Prof. K.S. Koushal, Principal GCW Udhampur. Moreover, volunteers present actively participated and also spoke about the relevance and significance of NSS in the post-modern scenario. The programme was enriched by the cultural presentations by the volunteers and recitation of a poem by Dr. Mool Raj, NSS programme officer GCW Udhampur. The programme was also graced by the auspicious presence of other faculty members of the institution.
NSS Day was celebrated in Government Degree College for Women, Kathua, with great fervour and enthusiasm to mark the launching of National Service Scheme. Principal of the college Dr. Satinder Singh presided over the function. At the outset, NSS Programme Officer, Madhvi Parasher, welcomed the guests and highlighted the role of NSS in nation building.
Prof. Chatterpati Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, who delivered a keynote lecture on role and history of NSS in community capacity building and betterment. Principal of the college, Dr. Satinder Singh, in his address lauded the role of NSS volunteers in creating awareness among masses about various social issues and evils. He impressed upon them to be harbingers of social change for better society and nation.
A poster making competition on the theme " Digital India" was held in which about 20 NSS volunteers participated and Gulshan Bhagat of B.Sc. semester Vth , Stanzin Donsal of B.Sc Semester Ist and Preety Surmal of B.Sc Semester Vth were declared first ,second and third respectively.
