'Additional deployment of army on LoC is to upgrade security grid'

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sep 25 : Deployment of additional companies of Army on the entire LOC in Kashmir is not a signal for India's urge for launching a war against Pakistan. Though Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has vowed to avenge Uri killings where in a terror strike 18 soldiers were killed, the deployment of additional companies of troops indicates that the security grid on the entire LOC in Kashmir was being upgraded so that the level of ingress was brought down to zero.
Modi lauded the security forces for foiling series of infiltration bids in which 110 militants were killed during the last several months. He has directed the Army commanders to initiate measures for foiling infiltration bids at any cost. In view of prevailing tension with Pakistan, Army has beefed up security along the Line of Control (LoC) by deploying additional forces and heavy artillery guns at the forward posts. "We have deployed two more brigades along the frontiers to prevent any security breach. Besides, we have also moved artillery guns close to LoC to deal with any situation," they said. According to officials, more military hardware has also been rushed to peaceful sectors along LoC like Karnah and Tanghdar areas in Kupwara .
Officials said additional army posts and bunkers have been established along the LoC after the recent deadly militant attack on army base in Uri in which 18 army men were killed and over two dozen injured.
They said number of posts have also been set up along the LoC in Chowkibal Panzgam. Sources said army has increased activities along the villages close to the LoC. "They have also restricted the civilian movement in villages along LoC". The increased army movement and shifting of artillery weapons to forward posts has created fear psychosis among the people living close to LoC , who fear the cross-border firing and shelling may resume again and they may have to migrate again from their places.(KIP)
