Jammu, Sept 25: The new track which remained closed for pilgrimage in view of carrying out repair work was thrown open for the Vaishno Devi pilgrims, an official here today said. ''The Pilgrimage on new track to world famous Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine remained suspended for two days on September 22 and 23, in view of cleanliness drive and repair of shooting stones/landslide prone locations,'' said an official of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. ''Most of the portions have been repaired to prevent landslides and shooting stones on the track," he said and added that as the Navratras are going to begin from October 1, expecting an unprecedented rush of pilgrims from across the country, the repair was carried out and the track was thrown open for routine pilgrimage. He said yatra was not stopped but diverted to old track so that the pilgrims pay obeisance at the cave shrine. ''Due to landslides and shooting stones en route Bhawan in the recent past, some causalities were also reported following which a team of experts conducted a survey and submitted its report to the Board,'' he added. In August this year, over six lakh pilgrims had paid obeisance at the cave shrine. |
