NOWSHERA, Sept 25: A 'fake' baba is alleged to be making efforts to encroach upon the land of a man near the highly revered Mangla Devi temple here. The land, measuring 5 kanals, belongs to Chaman Lal, a political activist. It falls under khasra No 460. A few days back, the baba and his followers attacked Chaman Lal's family, injuring his daughter, the family members alleged. Though the family brought the matter to the notice of Nowshera police station, any action against the baba was yet to be initiated, they said. The people of Seri Sial alleged the baba wanted to encroach upon the temple land too. They have urged chief minister Mehabooba Mufti to intervene in the matter and order police to do justice. Chaman's family said the baba, who originally hailed from Sirsa in Haryana, had been organising a langar in their land every year with their permission. "He is now making efforts to encroach one kanal of land and then sell it to someone," the family alleged. The family alleged that the baba, who actually was a snake catcher, had several cases registered against him in Haryana. |
