Beyond freebies announced by BSNL: Landline phones defunct in Rajouri for years
9/25/2016 11:50:05 PM
Early Times Report

Rajouri, Sept 25: On one hand Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is attracting more and more customers after announcing several subscriber friendly schemes, on the other hand Rajouri unit of BSNL has failed miserably to even restore the landline services in Nowshera and Sunderbani tehsils which were functioning about 8-10 years back.
"The tall claims made by the BSNL are nothing more than tactics to befool people of border belts. About 15 years ago the landline service was available in several villages along the Line of Control ( LoC) and people were in touch with their kith & kin in the state and out of the state" said Naresh Kumar and Purshotam Lal.
There is no telephone service ( landline & mobile) in village namely Laroka, Lam, Sair, Makri, Pukhrni, Rajoba , Kalal,Daruni Gala,Mohra Kampla etc and people after covering distances between 8-30 kilometers reach Nowshera to contact their relatives in case of any emergency
Yog Raj resident of Sunderbani said that after Landline services, BSNL provided WLL services but after about one year these services were also withdrawn and for the last more than 6 years people have been approaching from pillar to post but nobody listens to them.
"Digital India programme launched by the Prime Minister is still a mirage for the people of Nowshera and Sunderbani tehsils because even the mobile service is not available in more than 24 villages situated in the border belt in Nowshera tehsil" said Mohd Rashid.
In a series of customer friendly schemes for the benefits of customers and to attract new customers to experience wire line Broadband services, BSNL has launched a very cost effective & affordable promotional unlimited Broadband plan 'Experience Unlimited BB 249' from September 9, 2016.
On August 15, BSNL added more facility like free calls on August 15 and on every Sunday from its landline phone in addition to existing Free night calling scheme. In this offer BSNL landline customers can call to any mobile or landline free of any charges, but how can one avail these concessions when the landlines are not working" said Yog Raj, a resident.
HK Verma, Chief General Manager (CGM), Jammu when contacted said that the matter is not in his notice and assured to visit these areas personally to assess the situation on spot.
