Police busts online inter-state sex racket | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 25: Police have unearthed a major internet-based sex racket by detaining nearly 15 to 20 persons. SSP, Jammu, Sunil Gupta told a press conference that a Janipura resident had some time back told police that there were some advertisements on the internet regarding services of call girls in Jammu. "These services are being provided by some locals of Jammu who have their phone Nos in the ads. They manage local girls and girls from outside the city and state and provide them to customers, who may be locals or non-locals, in their houses and hotels," he added. On this information, police registered a case under sections 67/A-B/IT Act and 5/8 of PITA at Janipura police station and found that such sites are very much functional on the internet and all the work was done on phone. Police then swung into action and arrested three main accused from different locations. On their disclosure, police came to know about a major flesh trade in Jammu and raided different locations of the Jammu city and arrested a few brokers, both males and females. Through the exact number of girls and customers involved in the racket could not be ascertained as investigation was at its initial stage and raids were on. Police has appealed to general public not to fall prey to such type of immoral activity. |
