Govt shocks former Health Minister to set up Kathua medical college at Logate 9/26/2016 10:50:14 PM Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 26: The hopes of former Health and Medical Education Minister have been dashed to the ground as the government has decided to set up the proposed Kathua Medical College in village Logate rather than the area, close to vicinity of former Minister's Rajbagh residence. Sources in Health and Medical Education department informed Early Times that earlier it was almost finalized by the department, under strict instruction from former Health Minister, to establish Medical College in tehsil Mahreen near Rajbagh, which would ultimately benefit the Minister as his land is in the vicinity of the proposed location. Since new Health Minister has taken reins of department, pressure has been mounted on Minister to establish College adjoining to District headquarters rather than tehsil Mahreen, which was very distant to headquarters. "A total of 200 Kanals of government land was sought by department and the district administration Kathua has reportedly forwarded the revenue papers to two locations", sources said, adding that 207 Kanals and 3 marlas of government land has been identified in village Chak Sajjan and 201 kanals and 12 Marlas of government land has been identified in village Logate by district administration Katua. Sources further informed that district administration Kathua has forwarded all the revenue papers of the proposed locations and probably the land of village Logate would be finalized by the department. "The report of district administration Kathua has been forwarded to the Revenue department for scrutiny and once their approval is awaited", sources said, adding, "After the approval of land for proposed medical college Kathua, a memo will be presented in the state cabinet meeting for their assent." Moreover, the land for proposed Medical College Doda has already been finalized by the department and has been transferred and soon after the cabinet assent for Kathua medical college land the communication would be forwarded to Government of India for further development.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
