HC disposes of PIL on flood victims of Jammu division

Jammu,Sept 26: In a PIL, highlighting alleged government inaction to deal with the situation caused by unprecedented floods in J&K, especially in Jammu region, a high court division bench of first pusine judge, Justice R Sudhakar and Justice B S Walia today directed that if any person was entitled to some compensation, the needful be done within four weeks.
Quoting the state counsel's submissions, the bench observed that entire amount, received under SDRF and Prime Minister Devleopment Plan, had been distributed and uploaded on the website, but so far as development funds were concerned, which were for raising infrastructure of the state, it would not strictly fall within the parameters of disasters management fund.
If funds were allocated to any individual, these would be properly utilised and appropritaley uploaded, the court directed.
Observing that major issues raised in the PIL had been redressed, the court closed the PIL.(JNF)
