Early Times Report

Poonch, Sep 26: Residents of Mendhar town are forced to drink contaminated water due to leakage in supply pipes at several places but Public Health Engineering (PHE) department is in deep slumber.
Residents while talking to Early Times said the field staff of PHE Sub division Mendhar seems to be least bothered about the leakages in main supply pipes. These leakages are plugged with polythene and dirty cloth pieces.
"We are forced to drink the contaminated water," they added. Locals alleged that concerned AEE and other PHE employees withdraw lakhs of rupees for repair works without carrying out the work. "There are apprehensions that water borne diseases may break out in the Mendhar town as authorities seem least bothered about the quality of the water being supplied to people.
