Three CRPF personnel injured in grenade attack in Kulgam district

SRINAGAR, Sept 26: The Jammu & Kashmir Police today claimed to have arrested some persons who were involved in stone pelting incidents in Baramulla district while some Hajis were heading back to their homes after performing Haj pilgrimage.
Meanwhile, three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured in a grenade attack at Mir Bazar in South Kashmir's Kulgam district. At the same time police arrested 55 persons from different areas of valley on charges of stone pelting and creating trouble.
A police spokesman said that four miscreants involved in pelting stones on the civilian vehicles and injuring civilians including some Hajis returning to their homes after completion of Haj Pilgrimage on national highway at Singhpora have been arrested.
"On September 25 at about 1900 hours while the normal flow of traffic was going on at Srinagar-Baramulla highway, some stone pelters attacked few vehicles at Singhpora-Pattan, resulting in injuries to some people boarding the vehicles. Among injured were some Hajis who were returning to their homes after completion of Haj Pilgrimage," said the spokesman.
The spokesman said that police immediately swung into action and arrested four stone pelters. The arrested persons were identified as Ishfaq Waza resident of Bhagwanpora-Singhpora, Aamir Ganie resident of Hartrath, Umar din Bhat resident of Bhagwanpora and Munir Bhat resident of Singhpora were arrested on spot.
The spokesman said that case FIR number 248/2016 under sections 148, 149, 336, 332, 307 and 427 RPC has been registered in Police Station Pattan in this regard. He said that efforts are on to arrest more miscreants involved in this incident as they are still at large.
Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by the Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir, situation remained normal and peaceful throughout the valley today. According to the statement three CRPF personnel were injured when militants hurled a grenade on them in Kulgam this afternoon.
"This afternoon unknown militants hurled a grenade on CRPF party of 99-BN deployed for ROP duty near Government Higher Secondary School Wanpoh, Mir Bazaar in Kulgam district. Three CRPF personnel sustained injuries in the incident. The injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt to nab the attackers," said the statement.
The statement said that during the day greater movement of vehicular traffic was observed in the valley including the Srinagar city. It said 55 miscreants were arrested during past 24 hours from various parts of the Valley who are wanted in various offences of creating disruptions in normalcy.
