Jammu, Sept 26: The combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments and Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah among eight teams today qualified for the quarterfinals stages volleyball tournament in the annual inter-college competitions of the University of Jammu, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education on the campus grounds, here. Other teams making it to the last eight stages of the competition are Government MAM College, GDC Udhampur, GGM Science College, GDC Surankote, GDC Rajouri and Government SPMR College of Commerce. Earlier, in the first round of the pre-quarterfinals, PG Departments defeated GDC Doda in straight sets of 25-11,25-18 while GDC Bishnah trounced MBS College of Engineering and Technology 25-15, 25-19. In other matches, MAM College beat Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) 25-27, 25-16, 15-11 and GDC Udhampur registered a 2-0 (25-16, 25-22) win against GDC Paloura. GGM Science College won their tie against GDC Billawar 25-13, 25-21. Other three scheduled matches for today ended in walkover. GDC Surankote got walkover GDC Kishtwar, GDC Rajouri awarded walkover Government College of Education and Commerce College got walkover IDS Sehora. Prominent among those who witnessed the matches were Amit Sharma, Charajeet Singh, Sunil Pangotra, Tanveer Ahmed, Suresh Kumar , Mohd. Iqbal Lone, Narayani Jamwal, Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Imran Assad and Dr. Jagjit Singh were present at the venue. |
