Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 26: Putting all speculations to rest, "Ibnebattutta", Saadut Hussain, a bank manager, presently on deputation with the state government, has finally owned the controversial Twitter account.
Hussain, presently working as Officer on Special Duty with Chief Minister, spilled the beans to plead that he never attended any high level meetings or poked his nose in matters of law and order in restive Kashmir.
Quoting sources Early Times Sources had reported that "influential" official of the rank of "bank manager", nicknamed "Ibnebattutta", for the social media account he allegedly operates since 2010, has been calling the shots in high level meetings where, as per protocol, such junior officials are not entitled to comment.
Some Commissioner Secretaries, who spoke to Early Times had taken serious note of his undue interference at high level meetings held to review and discuss Kashmir unrest.
Though the news report nowhere disclosed Ibnebattutta's real identity, Saadut Hussain has come up with all such details only to plead that he was not calling the shots.
In his detailed letter to Editor, Early Times, Hussain said: "I respect the power and reach of journalism, which is a very power pillar of our society and has to play a very responsible role. Sadly the news item appearing in your esteemed newspaper today titled 'Influential bank manager dictates terms to Commissioner Secretaries' goes against all journalistic norms. Not only is this report utterly false, it is also aimed at deliberately maligning my professional life and reputation but aimed at creating security threats to me and my family."
"Fact is I have never ever attended any such meeting nor have I ever been part or participant of any 'police and civil administration meetings held to review law and order in Kashmir'. And since I have never been part of any such meetings, how could I be quoted to have said anything there. Fact also is whenever such meeting might have been conducted; I have been at home away from office domains which can be proven from government or telecom records. Since your report is based on malicious lies, I request your esteemed paper to quote or provide information of my participation (date and venue) of even one such meeting," he claimed.
"This report not only is aimed at maligning me but also indirectly aims to portray others in bad light... Your report not only has the potential of damaging my professional career but also has created security issues for me and my family since it portrays me as a part of the security establishment in Kashmir, which I never was."
"Your esteemed newspaper being a responsible member of the fourth estate, it would be never expected of you to publish lies as news and create life threatening situations for commoners like me. I request you to provide any proof of your claims that I have ever attended any of such meetings, which has wrongly put my and my family to extreme risk," Hussain claimed.
"I also request you to provide me the contact details of the reporter, so that I could talk to him about the reasons for this slanderous and malicious reporting. May also bring to your notice that only hours after this report was filed in your newspaper today, there have been stones hurled at my residence by unknowns miscreants today after noon, aimed at injuring me and my family, an attack I attribute to this malicious report," he said.
Even though Hussain has finally owned the Twitter handle and holding position in the office of Chief Minister, during the previous regime the account was accused of writing anti-government and provocative posts asking people to rise to the occasion while police then was believed to be trying to "know about the man behind the mischievously fake account."
On the other hand Early Times is in possession of official documents of Hussain's deputation and elevation in the state government, something which took place last year.
In 2015, Saadut Hussain was elevated as the Chief Executive Officer Jammu and Kashmir E Governance Agency, though he was allegedly "too junior an officer to have been given the prestigious charge." "The charge of the Executive Officer Jammu and Kashmir E Governance Agency is hereby assigned to Saadut Hussain, Executive Manager J&K Bank Limited, presently on deputation in J&K Government Grievance cell," reads the order issued by the General Administration Department vide number 1561-GAAD of 2015 dated December 21,2015, a copy of which lies with this newspaper.
His elevation had triggered a war of words between the ruling PDP and opposition NC.
The NC had termed the promotion as "Shame." "This is how PDP bends the laws to make a JK Bank Manager a CEO - the same Saadut Hussain who as @ibnebattuta abuses, vilifies and defames NC leaders. This is the change PDP promised? To adjust its workers illegally on senior posts by amending laws and eligibility criteria???? SHAME!!!," NC spokesman Junaid Mattu said on social media.
PDP youth leaders Wahid Ur Rehman Parra sharply reacted to the NC statements. "If @ibnebattuta was vocal critic of your regime, lakhs of other Kashmir's were too but your leader(Omar Abdullah) was concerned only about people on twitter," Parra tweeted.
