Doda, Sep 27: Security forces on Tuesday busted a militant hideout in Dessa area of Doda district in Jammu Region, seizing a large cache of arms and ammunition. "Army along with Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted a terrorist hideout in Dessa forest range and unearthing a large cache of warlike stores," police said. Based on intelligence inputs, security forces launched a joint operation in the Manjmi forests on Tuesday morning. On specific information, Police Party from police station Dessa along with the Columns of 10 RR jointly launched a search operation in Linga-Manjmi area and busted a hideout. Search teams recovered 1 Ak47 rifle, 8 -12 bore Rifles, 1 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), 2 Grenades, 1 Chinese Grenade, 2 AK47 Magazines, 2 Pistols, 2263 AK47 rounds, 2 Radio sets, 2 maps, 2 diaries, 1 purse, 1 notebook. Police said it appears that the consignment of arms and ammunition was hidden by militants who had been operating in the area during insurgency, who have now either been killed or migrated to the other parts of the state. Since, no active militant is operating in this district for the last 5 years. However, the consignment could have been used to revive subversive activities in the areas. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) DKR, Nissar Ahmed said, "it's a big achievement for police and security forces who managed to unearth the old hideout of militants in forest range of Dessa. Recovered ammunition was in usable conditions." During the year, 2015, 4 hideouts were busted and huge recoveries were made jointly by Police and Army in the district. |
