Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 27: Infuriated over the state government for overtly denying ex-gratia to the families of martyred Jawans of Dogra regiments, martyred in Uri attack besides excluding the Jammu youth from the SPO recruitment drive, Panthers Party activists today staged protest demonstration. According to press release, the activists were led by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP Balwant Singh Mankotia State President and Mr. Yash Paul Kundal State President Young Panthers.
Lambasting the BJP-PDP alliance for denying the ex-gratia to the families of said martyrs, Mr. Singh observed that while Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra governments had announced the ex-gratia of 20 lacs, 11 lacs, 10 lacs and 15 lacs respectively each to the family members of the martyrs hailing from the respective States, the J&K government's treasury remained despicably empty for its slain martyrs. He lamented that BJP leaders made highly insensitive and outrageous statements to justify denial of ex-gratia to such martyrs on the ground that congress had also refused it for Sunjawan martyrs earlier. Dubbing the justification as absurd and loathsome, Mr. Singh said that such nauseating statements of the Saffron party which were issued to keep the PDP in good humour and for playing a second fiddle in the government not only denigrated the brave hearts, but had also insulted the patriotic sentiments of the people of Jammu region thus aggravating their fury. He sought immediate announcement of ex-gratia and SRO benefits for the NOK's of the martyrs Subedar Karnail Singh of Bishnah and Haveldar Ravi Paul of Samba who made supreme sacrifice in Uri attack besides posthumous awards to all previous martyrs with adequate ex-gratia to their families. Balwant Singh Mankotia, while accusing BJP led Union Government for administering another obnoxious doze of discrimination to Jammu region, regretted that the BJP-PDP Govt. had once again perpetrated injustice to the Dogra youth by taking a decision to recruit 10000 SPOs in the Police department all from Kashmir. He announced to fight such injustice against Jammu region tooth and nail.
