Jammu, Sept 28: S.M. Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, Anand Nagar, Patta Bohri, Jammu organized a special programme in the favour of HelpAge India (NGO), a leading non-profit organization in India caring for elderly senior citizens, in the presence of Managing Director Parneesh Mahajan, Liaison Officer Harvinder Singh Sihotra, Principal Manikarnika Bhasin, Co-ordinator Sonika Jain. Students and staff voluntarily contributed a good amount of Rs. 20,549/- in the favour of HelpAge INDIA. In this programme students presented a group song as a mark of respect towards their elders. Teachers also gave speech throwing light on the ill treatment with elders and how to rectify the problem. In this context Sunita Santoshi (State Manager of HelpAge INDIA) spoke about her contribution of twenty five years as a social worker and in her long journey Late TR Mahajan (Chairman) NSM group of Schools and colleges played a major role. He was a great soul, educationist and a social worker who will be remembered throughout our journey. Speaking on the occasion Parneesh Mahajan (M.D) thanked Sunita Santoshi (State Manager of HelpAge INDIA) making us feel proud to work for this noble cause and committed to carry on the support to this organization and will follow his father's footsteps. He handed over the cheque of Rs. 20,549/- to the State Manager (HelpAge INDIA). In the end everybody took pledge to take care and spend time with the elders at home. Prize distribution ceremony was held in which students were awarded for their contribution and collection. |
