Early Times Report Kishtwar, Sept 28: Police foiled Langate MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid's bid to enter Kishtwar town under the cover of darkness early this morning and pushed him back. He was on way to Kishtwar town to meet the families of those arrested under sedition charges when police intercepted him near Parna, Chatroo, 48 km from here, at about 1 am and pushed him back. He was accompanied by his party spokesman Inam-un-Nabi and two PSOs, police sources said. Rashid, who had hosted a beef party in Srinagar, planned to address people at Jamia Masjid, Kishtwar on Friday, the sources added. Sources said even as he had asked the cops to let him proceed towards Kishtwar town, he was pushed back. It is pertinent to mention that during his last visit to Kishtwar, he had faced protest from the minority community while in Bhaderwah town of Doda district, he was attacked with stones and black ink was thrown on him. He had also attempted to enter Kishtwar after the 2013 Kishtwar communal riots, but he was not allowed. |
