Early Times Report

Poonch, Sept 28: Surprisingly if it is callous approach of authorities or illegal nexus, the retired employees of Revenue Department allegedly have been making fortunes by occupying private rooms in the revenue (Tehsil) complex and flourishing their business of issuing category certificates to gullible people in lieu of monetary benefits through their touts, sources said here today.
Highly placed sources said a number of retired Patwaris and Girdawars have occupied private rooms in revenue complex and apparently have engaged touts who trap gullible people who visit the office for preparing different certificates including PRC, ALC, ST and OBC just for monetary benefits thus looting the innocent public. 'Some even use forged official stamps to manage their jobs without getting the matter officially recorded as per norms," they alleged.
Sources said the activities of these retired officials are going on under the nose of concerned authorities but still no action was taken.
Many people alleged that Rs 5000 were being charged by the touts of these retired employees to prepare the file of a person who visits the office for issuance of category certificate though there were clear cut directions from Tehsildar that no other person can move a file other than the client itself.
Beyond this a local lady even alleged that she was harassed during her visit to the retired Girdawar Mohi Din Bhat of Gohlad who even tried to molest her. "I have complained the matter to a head constable on duty outside the complex, she said. The said cop led her straight to Tehsildar Shehzad Khan who directed the police to take the accused under custody, she said, lamenting, "due to his influence the accused retired Girdawar the police yet have failed to take action against him."
Chairman Youth Club Balakote Er Majid Khanatana has appealed the district administration to remove the retired revenue employees occupying Tehsil complex rooms.
