Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 29: Five months ago, the Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat visited Sub district Hospital Bhaderwah and noticed that the CT scan machine was not working.
He directed higher officials of department to frame an enquiry committee to find out the cause of the machine going defunct. He also urged them to fix responsibility for the same. The enquiry was to be completed in specified time. However, thje machine is still defunct and the committee to probe the snag also seems to have gone defunct.
Reliable sources in department informed Early Times that in the year 2013 the machine was installed by Director Health Services Jammu but was never put to use for unknown reasons even as the patients spent hefty sums for the scan outside the hospital.
Throwing Health Minister's direction into bin, the health department has failed to find out the cause of reducing the costly equipment to junk and fixing responsibility for the same.
Rakesh Sharma, a local resident of Dandi said that misleading the people that machine was non functional due to technical snag the department spent three years.
"Then administration adopted new technique escaping public anger, told the visitor the matter has been brought into the notice of higher administration", he said, adding that but the machine continued to gather dust.
However, in the mean time people also contacted health minister but unfortunately the things remain unchanged.
Couple of months ago, the minister had directed the authority to make it functional but nothing has moved.
Being an accident prone area, the state government had sanctioned the machine for the hospital which after three years of inauguration has not started functioning yet.
Block Medical Officer, Bhaderwah, Dr Yudhveer Singh, said that the company's engineers visited the hospital last month, replaced its batteries but the machine did not run. Singh said that the engineers have called for some equipment to make the machine run.
