Srinagar, Sept 29: In view of heightened tension on the Line of Control (LoC) following surgical operation carried out by Army against militant camps across the border, authorities have asked people within the target of Pakistani troops to restrict their movement. Though we were not directed to leave our villages, but asked to restrict our movement, a resident of border town of Gurez, Mohammad Yousuf told .. He said immediately after the news was received through television channels about the surgical strike by Army against the militants camps across the LoC , people in the border town, surrounded by Pak troops from three sides, started praying for peace. We were directed to remain indoor during the next 24 hours, he said adding similarly announced that educational institutions and offices will also remain closed, Mr Yousuf said. He said today also there was restricted movement in the town, which was the main target before India and Pakistan agreed for a cease fire on LoC and International Border (IB) in 2003. Yousuf said underground bunkers, constructed before the 2003, where villagers were taking shelter during Pak shelling, are in a very bad condition. Some of them have been damaged completely, he said. Similar situation was witnessed in Tangdhar, Uri and other border areas, where people are worried. |
