| Twitter king Omar, others silent | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 29: The super active Twitter King Omar Abdullah's twitter account has suddenly felt silent on a day when it is literally a rain of twitters on an issue which has a direct bearing on J&K state. From Omar to all other political stalwarts in the mainstream camp, an uneasy disquiet descended throughout the day, not to speak of the separatist camp in Kashmir which is simply stunned and in a state of shock over Surgical Strike conducted by Indian forces on terror launch pads in POK.
In what exposes the sheer hypocrisy of mainstream politicians and their ever wavering stand on dealing with terrorism, they showed it all today with all parties in eerie silence choosing not to utter a word over the development of huge significance. From ruling PDP to opposition NC and Congress, all leaders stayed calm as if nothing had happened, contrary to how entire political elite group including those in opposition came forth since early morning in lauding the action from Indian side.
Even though the Surgical strike, which is drawing huge applause from all quarters is rightly so being seen as reflection of the mood of nation, which was angry, resentful awaiting military response from Indian side after Uri attack which saw 18 soldiers attaining martyrdom in the dastardly attack by terrorists sent in by the Pakistan and political parties supported the government all through the day besides congratulating the forces, the politicians in J&K neither criticized it nor praised it, not even for the formality sake.
Ironically, for the Congress which has a broad base in Jammu, not a single leader came out with any statement to say a thing, whereas its leadership including the state based Ghulam Nabi Azad lauded the action and extended full support to what the present day government showed courage in conducting much needed surgical strike to inflict damage on terrorists who were potential threat for the country, including J&K where the latter are learnt to mooted fresh attacks.
However, it was only Rani Gargi Blowria who saved some grace for the Congress in at least lauding the action contending the state had suffered much over the years in acts of terrorism which is why such action was need of the hour. The Congress MLC expressed this sentiment through the whatsapp during the day.
There was one more interesting aspect noticed among the media fraternity in Kashmir over the news of Surgical strike. Most of the media houses and prominent Kashmir based newspapers all through the day on their online editions followed the version circulated by Pakistan in their main leads, conveniently, deliberately choosing to ignore what and how Indian forces conducted this strike. While the internet services in general are still snapped in Kashmir, but those having broadband connections remained connected through whatsapp and other social media forums, only to follow and circulate the Pakistan version over the Surgical Strike. |
